A 27-year-old driver, Ferdinand Terpase, has appeared before a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged N6million fraud.

Terpase, who resides at Angwan Rogo, Idu, Abuja, is facing a four-count charge of joint act, breach of trust, cheating and theft.

The prosecutor, Joshua Ayanna, told the court that the case was reported by one Ogbu Uchenna on June 28.

He said that Uchenna filed a petition against the defendant, while the Inspector-General of Police, referred it to the Special Tactical Squad in Abuja, for investigation and possible prosecution.

Ayanna alleged that the defendant and one Hans Ernest, now at large, on June 4, conspired and sold a Mack truck with Reg. No: YAB807YS for N1.4 million which was given to him on hire purchase.

The prosecutor said that the defendant was given the truck on hire purchase for N6 million on Dec. 23, 2017, adding that he never made any payment to the complainant before selling the truck.

He said that during police investigation, the defendant admitted to have committed the offences, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

The offences contravened Sections 79, 287, 312 and 322 of Penal Code.

Terpase, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Abdulmajid Oniyangi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.

Oniyangi adjourned the case until Sept. 3 for hearing.
