BREAKING: Finally, Saraki, Kwara governor dump APC

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has finally announced his defection from Nigeria’s ruling party, APC. The Senate President who made the announcement on his social media handle however did not indicate the party he was going to, though he was expected to join Nigeria’s biggest opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

“I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Saraki tweeted on his Twitter handle.

In similar vein, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has also announced his defection from APC to the opposition PDP.

Ahmed, who was Saraki’s sucessor as governor of Kwara State and a political ally of the Senate President announced his defection in a statement by his media aide, Muyideen Akorede.

“Following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), having realized that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people,” the statement said.
