Senator Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday met with a team of police investigators in his office to answer questions on his alleged indictment by suspects arrested over the bloody robbery in Offa town , Kwara State.

This was disclosed by his Special Assistant on New Media, Olu Onemola.

In a series of tweets, Onemola said, “Further to the invitation to the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, by the Police on July 23, 2018, and his written response to them on July 24, 2018 on why he could not see them that day — today at about 1:40pm, the Senate President met with a team of investigators on the Offa Robbery case in his office.

“Dr. Saraki, used the opportunity to reiterate the fact that he has nothing to do with either the robbery incident on April 5, 2018, or any other criminal activity.”

It will be recalled that the Police had on Monday sent an invitation letter asking Saraki to appear before  the IGP Intelligence Response Team at Guzape Junction, Asokoro extension Abuja on Tuesday, July 24 over investigations of the robbery incident.

The Police had in the letter signed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, asked Saraki to make himself physically available to interrogators at 8 am to be grilled over his alleged indictment in the case of Offa bank robbery and murder of more than 31 persons, including the snatching of 21 AK 47 Rifles on April 5, 2018.

According to the Police, some of the arrested leaders of the robbery gang made confessional statements indicting Saraki, as their sponsor. The suspects, according to the police, accused Saraki of giving them firearms, money and vehicle.
