Mr Sunday Maku, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara command, has reiterated the preparedness of the corps to ensure hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state through effective traffic management.

Maku made this known in a statement signed by the command’s Public Education Officer, Mr Solomon Meremikwu on Wednesday in Ilorin.

He stated that 2,500 personnel would be deployed to guard the state during the celebration,
while 20 patrol vehicles and four ambulances would be strategically positioned to further boost safety during the period and beyond, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

He said “we are partnering with private tow truck operators and Kwara Road Transport Management Agency (KWARTMA) for the removal of broken down vehicles and other forms of obstructions on the roads.

“Principal officers of the command have been briefed on the commencement of special patrols designed to ensure that all traffic situations during the Eid period were taken care of as directed by the FRSC headquarters.”

The sector commander assured motorists in the state and those on transit that the challenge of broken down Jebba bridge would be taken care of through alternate route.

He added that “the Ilorin-Omu-Aran and Kabba-Okene alternate route would be effectively manned by more personnel deployed along the axis.”

He wished Muslims happy celebration and enjoined road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
