MFM and Ifeanyi Ubah players exchange pleasantries before the match

The skipper of Lagos-based MFM FC, Austin Opara, on Monday said that the hard fought 1-0 victory over FC IfeanyiUbah players was dedicated to its Director, Emmanuel Adeyemi.

The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Olukoya Boys had to hold on to a 59th minute goal from Alade Balogun to record their first away win in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

MFM FC bounced back to winning ways after losing two games on the bounce as they claimed the vital win against the the Anambra Warriors in Match Day 24 of the NPFL on Sunday at the FC IfeanyiUbah Stadium.

However, the victory over FC IfeanyiUbah also played an important part as it also coincides with the Director of the club, Adeyemi who turned a year older on Saturday said.

On the match, the team captain, Opara said the win was made possible through the efforts of the club’s director, Adeyemi.

“Permit to say this, on behalf of the officials and players, I dedicate this victory to our director, Adeyemi, who became a year older on Saturday,’’ he said.

MFM was without regular players such as Olatunbosun Sikiru, Okorom Stanley, Nojeem Akinyemi and Uwaga Chuka who were missing from the starting lineup due to injury.

However, Austine Opara, Onuwa Chukwuka, Zikiye Jonathan, Ademola Adeshola and Julius Emiloju gave good accounts of themselves with amazing displays.

The inspiring display by Onuwa Chukwuka, who initiated a move from the midfield in the 59th minute and exchanged passes with Julius Emiloju and Akuneto, released his final pass to Balogun for the goal.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah was awarded a penalty six minutes after Alade’s goal following a challenge on Patrick Ikeokwu by Nasamu.

The goalkeeper sustained an injury due to that challenge and was treated on the pitch for few minutes.

The penalty was then taken in the 70th minute of the entertaining match by Seka Pascal to the far right but Nasamu guessed right and parried the ball to the path of onrushing Wasiu Jimoh who failed to score from the rebound.

With the Olukoya Boys recording their first away win of the 2017/2018 NPFL, they moved from 13th spot on the table to 11th, claiming 30 points from 24 league games.
