The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday led an agricultural team to Wasinmi, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State, to sensitise the people of the area and solicit support for the construction of the proposed airport by the Federal Government.

Speaking with the leadership of the community, Amosun assured of appropriate compensation and urged the people to embrace the development coming to their locality, as it would open up the area to development.

Amosun said the satellite imagery of the buildings and crop enumeration have been captured to ease the compensation, as all is set for the commencement of the airport project.

Reeling out the compensation plans, he said the disbursement of N500 million would be paid to farmers, whose farms will be affected in over 20 villages.

Amosun stated that the farmers will also be relocated to more appropriate farm lands, stressing that his government would not in any way bring hardship upon the people, but rather make life more meaningful for them.

He noted that the location of the airport was made several years before his administration came on board.

The Baale of Temu land in Ewekoro Local Government Area, Chief Abati Noah, in his response, also urged residents to embrace the project.

Abati, who appreciated the governor and his team for their relentless effort to ensure the development of the community, appealed to the Federal Government to ensure quick and appropriate compensation to those to be displaced.
