It has been tears and sorrow for the family of Miss Uloko Lawrenta Apaume, a fresh graduate of Auchi Polytechnic who was allegedly sent to the world beyond by a stray bullet from a gun of a member of a vigilance group.

Although the Edo state Police Command is yet to come out with the result of a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Miss  Apaume, it was gathered that she was shot dead by vigilantes, on Friday, November, 3, 2017, a day after her signing out as a fresh graduate of the Polytechnic.

Sketchy information available indicated that the landlord of the Banking and Finance graduate had invited vigilantes to the hostel to secure the place for the celebration of HND graduates.

However, it was gathered that out of sheer exuberance and over excitement, the vigilantes started shooting randomly into the air and Apaume was hit by a stray bullet. It was gathered that the fresh graduate died instantly.

A course mate of the late Miss Apaume said she was an easy-going person and had looked forward to call up for the one year compulsory National Youths Service Corps, NYSC with great expectations.

“She had always said she can’t wait to don the NYSC Khaki uniform,” her course mate who resides in Port Harcourt said
