Osholanke, Lagos PDP Chairman is dead

The Lagos Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Babatunde Osholanke is died.

Reports indicated that the late Osholanke slumped yesterday at Ikeja Airport Hotel, from where he was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he was confirmed dead.

It was learnt that the deceased has scheduled a meeting with some chieftains of the party with a view to fixing a date for the party’s congress before his sudden death.

“The chairman of the caretaker committee of our party has died. He died in his hotel room this morning after he held series of meetings with members this morning,” said a source.

He confirmed that Osholanke had initially scheduled a meeting with members of his committee for Saturday evening to appraise the outcome of the ward congreses scheduled to take place for Saturday.

He added that as a result of the unexpected death of Osholanke, activities lined up as build up to the forthcoming national convention of the party will now be put on hold.

Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, PDP’s caretaker committee, Otunba Femi Careena confirmed to journalists that Osolanke died, while preparing to hold a scheduled meeting in respect of the rescheduled party’s congress..

“So we are in a mourning mood as I speak with you now, we are really in a mourning mood,” Careena said.

He added that deceased had earlier attended the reconciliation meeting put together by the PDP leadership between Chief Bode  George and Chief (Mrs.) Aduke Maina, both members of PDP Board of Trustees.

In his reaction, Chief George described Osolanke’s death as shocking as the deceased was at a meeting that took place in his house the previous night.
