President Muhammadu Buhari left Abuja for Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State and the epicenter of Boko Haram insurgency after his early morning Independence Day broadcast to the nation on Sunday.
The President visited the Theatre of War and inspected some military equipment in company of the Service Chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin.
The Service Chiefs had earlier relocated to Maiduguri ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
The Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, was also at the ceremony.
