A member of unkown gunmen who allegedly murdered the President of the Lagos Street Traders Association, in Benin, Edo State, Comrade David Ohenhen, was mistakenly shot dead by his colleague.

The identity of the late gangster who’s lifeless body was abandoned along the road by his other gang members, is yet to be ascertained .

Late Comrade Ohehen was attacked at his residence at 2 Ehi Street, off Eboniyeke Street, in Egor local government area.

His wife, Evelyn, while narrating what happened, said the gang member was shot by his colleague during a struggle with her husband.

She said the gunmen gained access to their apartment after they heard a knock on their door, thinking it was their neighbour, adding that one of the gunmen pointed a gun at her husband and ordered her to leave the room.

“As I was begging him to tell me what he wanted and to leave my husband alone, my husband pounced on him. They dragged themselves to the door. As my husband was about to throw him off the stairs, his friend rushed out from one of the rooms where our children were and fired a shot.

“The bullet hit my husband and also killed his partner in the process,” Evelyn said.

She further explained that the attack occurred after her husband returned from court where he went to respond to a case of alleged financial misappropriation leveled against him by some executive members of the association.

The Spokesman of Edo State Police Commad, DSP Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the incident, said three persons have been arrested.
