A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Tuesday arraigned Yahaya Alasan, 39, and Idris Ladan, 50, for allegedly buying a stolen property.

The defendants, who reside along Kaduna Road in Niger State, are standing trial on a count charge of receiving a stolen property.

The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, refused to grant them bail and adjourned the case until Aug. 14 for further hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Gabriel Zango of Mazado Plaza Utako in Abuja reported the matter at the Gwarimpa Police Station, Abuja, on July 26.

Dalhatu said that the complainant alleged that his cable wire valued at N2.5 million was stolen from his construction site at Katampe Extension Gwarimpa by one Aliyu Abdulrahaman.

Abdulrahaman allegedly sold it to the defendants for N266, 000.

Dalhatu said that the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendants claimed that they did not know that the cable wire was a stolen property.
