Governor Bello: of Kogi State

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kog has sent a supplementary budget of N11 billion to the state House of Assembly for approval in the 2017 fiscal year.

In a letter to the house, read by Speaker Umar Imam on Monday in Lokoja, Bello said the request was to enable the state government meet some unforeseen financial needs.

He said the supplementary budget would address issues bordering on security and other obvious sectoral challenges within and outside the main approved budget.

The governor also said the supplementary budget would also take care of “certain areas of economic development” that were not previously captured in the 2017 budget.

According to him, it will enable the administration to continue execute its projects and programmes with minimal hindrances.

Imam directed the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Matthew Kolawole,(APC-Kabba-Bunu) to slate the supplementary budget for consideration at the next adjourned plenary sitting.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had earlier in the year signed into law the Appropriation Bill of N174.851 billion approved by the Assembly for 2017 fiscal year.
