Maitama Sule to be buried Tuesday in Kano

                            Sule: To be buried Tuesday

Alhaji (Dr.) Yusuf Maitama Sule,  the Dan Masanin Kano who died on Monday morning  at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt where he was receiving treatment for an illness will be buried in Kano on Tuesday.

Malam Muhammad Garba, Kano State Commissioner for Information who said this while announcing the death the diplomat said funeral prayer for the deceased will be conducted tomorrow Tuesday at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, by 4:00pm.

Also, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared tomorrow Tuesday a work – free day in the state to mourn the death of the elder statesman.

In an earlier statement,  Alhaji Sani Adamu, head of family of the deceased had indicated that the  88 year old former minister  was flown to Cairo two days ago due to complications from pneumonia infection.

The late Danmasanin Kano was minister of mines and power in the first republic.

He also contested for the presidential ticket of National Party of Nigeria, NPN in 1979, but lost to Shehu Shagari.

The Shagari administration however appointed him an ambassador to the United Nations.

He had earlier served as head of Public Complaints Commission, a position he was appointed to by the military administration of late Murtala Mohammed administration in 1976.

Born Kano in 1929, the late Sule was famous for his oratory and beautiful dresses and passion for Nigeria as a united entity,
