At its first State Executive Meeting held on Thursday 23rd March 2017, National Conscience Party, speaking through its new Chairman for Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Bayo Ogunleye, condemned the undemocratic and strategies being employed by Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, and the state government to keep other political parties in the dark concerning the details and modalities to be adopted for the conduct of the forthcoming local government council election.

The new executive came on board last Saturday 18th March 2017 at the State Congress held at 35, Adejobi Street, Elere, Agege, Lagos State.
The congress produced, Michael Yusuff Omuya as General Secretary, Barr F.O. Adeniyi as Legal Adviser, Alhaja Ramota Lawal as Women Leader, Akindele Sulaimon as Treasurer, Akintunde Adedeji as Financial Secretary, Adeoye Kehinde as Publicity Secretary, Ade Adewunmi as Mobilisation Director among others.

The party alleged that the APC-led government is trying to lay siege for other political parties and to catch them un-aware. The Chairman therefore challenged LASIEC to release the guideline for the said election. He encouraged Lagosians to keep faith with NCP as PDP and APC had failed them once and for repeated times.

Also, NCP Director of Research, Comrade Joseph Olusola Onagunwa accused the State Government and LASIEC for hoarding vital information away from the party. He said all efforts to lay hand on the Act of the parliament that created LASIEC, as an agency of the state, had proved abortive as it could not be found anywhere, even not in the state archieve!

The Vice-Chairman of the party in Lagos State, Mrs Opeyemi Mosunmol, regretted the unguarded utterances of Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu. She called on well-meaning Lagosians to put the monarchy on a check. She wondered how a respect traditional ruler of his status would descend so low too often into the arena of conflicts, especially in politics, by issueing military order that no Lagosian must contest against Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the worst Governor Lagos State ever had.
