The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi has denied being behind the move to register a new political party, described as Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (ADP).
Dayo Adeyeye, spokesman of the committee said in a statement Sunday that his faction of the party will not abandon the main PDP for the rival faction of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
“We state clearly and without ambiguity that the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP is not in anyway involved in the plans to register any party by the name APDP or any other party for that matter.
“We however, acknowledge and recognize the rights of party members to seek alternative platform to actualize their political dreams which is an inalienable right guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement said.
