Police arraign 2 men for N30m theft

The police on Tuesday arraigned two men, Olusegun Osunniran, 45, and Gabriel Oladimeji, 60, in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos,

charged with theft of N30.3 million worth of chemicals.

The two men are facing two-count charge of alleged conspiracy and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby, told the court that the defendants, who
live at No.15, Unity Crescent, Giwa Oke-Aro, Lagos and No.6, Adelere Street,
Okun-Akute, Ogun State, respectively, conspired with others still at large to commit the alleged offence.

He said the offences were committed between ‎July 2016 and December 2016 when they were working as warehouse manager and assistant warehouse manager respectively at
a skin beauty company in Lagos.

He added that items stolen were 10 bags of Hydro-Qunine chemical valued at
N30.3 million, an offence which contravened sections 285 (8) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, B. A. Sonuga,
granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each with two sureties each in like sum.

Sonuga ordered that the defendants must show evidence of three years tax payment and addresses of the sureties verified by the prosecutor and adjourned the case until
March 9 for mention.
