An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday remanded five men in prison custody for  alleged murder of two persons and arson.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Durosaro –Tijani, remanded them at Agodi Prisons, Ibadan, pending the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) .

Abiodun Omoyeni, 22, Azeez Fatai, 25, Mustapha Rasheed , 17, Ismaila Soliu,32, and Sarafadeen Gbadamosi, 22, committed the offences on Dec.9, 2016 at Odinjo ,Ibadan.

The Prosecutor , Insp. Adewale Amos, told the court that Omoyeni, Fatai, Raseed, Soliu and Gbadamosi caused the death of Balikis Suleiman by firing gunshots at her during the pandemonium.

“The five men also caused the death of Taye Oyerinde by firing gunshots at him unlawfully in the pandemonium that occurred on Dec.9, 2016 about 11:40 a.m at Ode- Ige, Odinjo junction, Ibadan .

“The accused persons allegedly attacked and robbed Yakubu Abdulraheem of N50,000 and later set his shop ablaze wilfully and unlawfully,’’ said Amos.

The offence contravened sections 324, 316 and punishable under sections 319, 443 (A&D) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.II Laws of Oyo state 2000.

The prosecutor also said the offences contravened Section 1 (2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap RII Vol 14 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.

The plea of the five accused persons were not taken by the court.

The magistrate adjourned the case till Feb.6, for mention.(NAN)
