The umbrella student body in the Confluence State, National Association of Kogi state Students, NAKOSS, yesterday impeached its National President, Ibrahim Akiti over financial misappropriation.

The impeachment was carried out by the legislative arm of the association and was contained in a communiqué signed by the acting Senate President, Abraham Unekwe, Chief whip, Alonge Esther; and two others.

The President was accused of selling one of the NAKOSS buses and withdrawing monies from the association’s account. He was also accused of not remitting monies to the association purse.

The communique alleged that after receiving complaints, the legislators invited Akiti to come and defend himself, but he shunned the invitation.

In part, the communiqué reads, “Based on the allegations on the national president by the executive members of NAKOSS which was attached with Proves of the statement of NAKOSS bank account and other grievous allegations.

“Hence our mode for justification to call the national President for clarification, which he bluntly refused. We hereby impeach you Ibrahim Akiti as the NAKOSS national President’.

The Senate arm subsequently directed the vice president special duties to serve in the capacity of acting president in the interim.

“We hereby direct you to submit all the association properties that are in your custody within 24 hours.’

The communiqué call on the state government to commence judicial action on the impeached president.
End.
