Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has condoled with the royal family and the people of Ile Igbon on the passing away of the Olugbon of Ile Igbon, Oba Samuel Adegboyega Osunbade Adeyeku II.

In another development, the governor equally condoled with the families of victims of the multiple accidents that occurred at Oja-Oba area of Ibadan South-East Local government in Ibadan which claimed about four lives.

In two separate statements signed by the government spokespersons, the governor described the monarch’s demise as unfortunate and a loss to the people of Orile Igbon and the entire state.

The governor extolled the virtues of Oba Osunbade, saying he was a great ruler whose reign brought great development to the town adding, “Oba Osunbade will always be remembered for his wise counsel and commitment to the development of his community and the state at large. His exit will surely leave a vacuum that will be hard to fill”.

While commiserating with the people of Ile Igbon on the passing away of the royal father, he urged them to take solace in the fact that Oba Osunbade lived a fulfilled life.

On the four persons killed with several others seriously injured by the cement laden trailer which lost its balance at Oja’Aba , the governor who described the accident as unfortunate, sad and highly regrettable said that such deaths were needless and avoidable only if people would desist from street trading, keep vehicles in good condition and abide by traffic laws.

According to him, “This accident is one too many, you can see the number of casualties and the victims of the accident ranging from traders, passerby, tricycle riders among others. We condole with their families. We pray to God to uphold the families they left behind and we are using this medium to call on the people to see the government’s frequent campaign against street trading as a clarion call to put an end to this kind of bloodbath. We will not rest on our oars in sensitizing the people about the inherent dangers of street trading”.
