Nigeria beats Zambia in World Cup qualifier

Nigeria beat Zambia 2-1 to earn the maximum three points in the first game of the CAF World Cup qualification played  in Ndola, Zambia on Sunday afternoon.

Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho scored the two goals for Nigeria in the first half of the match.

The victory shot Nigeria to the top of Group B, while the result of the match between Algeria and Cameroon later today in Algiers is being awaited.

Iwobi scored the first goal for in the 33rd minute of the match, while Iheanacho followed 10 minutes after.

Zambia’s only goal came on the 71st minute of the match.

The match between Algeria Cameroon, the other members of the group with Nigeria comes up later Sunday while Nigeria’s second group match  will be against Algeria on 7 November.
