The Kwara Government has released funds for the payment of August salaries and pensions.

This is contained in a statement by the state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, in Ilorin on Friday.

He said that the state’s civil servants and pensioners would start receiving alerts for their August salaries and pension arrears as from Friday.

He said that the Civil Service Commission would receive N513.4 million while the Teaching Service Commission got N532 million

The finance commissioner said that N462.6 million and N150 million were released for pension arrears and gratuities respectively.

He said that the sum of N86.9 was released as the last quarterly subvention to the state-owned colleges of education for 2016.

According to him, fund for the overheads of ministries, departments and agencies in the state had also been released.

He assured that the government would continue to give priority to the welfare and pay salaries, pensions and overheads promptly, in spite of the economic meltdown. (NAN)
