The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) says it will strengthen its multi-media operations for greater efficiency.

The Managing Director of the agency, Mr Bayo Onanuga, stated this at an interactive session with staff of the agency in Lagos on Monday.

“In the next few weeks, we are going to change a lot of things; even the way we edit.

“We want to introduce a lot of multi-media things; we are going have a video web (portal) where we can sell videos to TV stations.’’

He also said NAN would leverage on its large number of experienced photographers to market its photographs, especially through the social media.

Onanuga added that the management’s focus would be on staff training, welfare and upgrade of the newsroom to enhance productivity and service delivery to its teeming subscribers.

He said the dwindling government subvention to ministries, departments, and agencies had made it a necessity for NAN to diversify its sources of income.

The managing director, therefore, advised the reporters to align with him to move the agency in the new direction by being dedicated to duty and embracing modern tools for news gathering and dissemination. (NAN)
