Niger Delta Avengers, NDA dealt another heavy blow on Nigeria’s oil production which is already down to less than one million barrels per day with the attack on Chevron’s production facilities on Wednesday morning.
The group whose successive sabotage of Nigeria’s oil facilities in the past few weeks have resulted in the big decline in the country’s production said it blew an oil well operated by Chevron early Wednesday despite heavy presence of Nigerian military personnel in the Niger Delta.
In a series of tweet, the Avengers claimed the attack was carried out in the early hours of today at about 03.44 hours.
“With the heavy presence of 100 Gunboats, 4 Warships and Jet Bombers NDA blew up Chevron Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP 24 3:44am this Morning.
“This is to show the whole world that Nigeria Military is good in harassing innocent Civilians.
“RMP 24 and RMP 23 are Chevron Swamp Highest producing Wells. #Boom,” the Avengers tweeted.
Already, activities of the group have put implementation of Nigeria’s N6 trillion budget in jeopardy with fears that the revenue projected to be earned from oil may no longer be realisable.
But President Muhammadu Buhari ruled out negotiation with the group on Tuesday, vowing that the government will not negotiate with “criminal elements.”
