Substitute Jesse Lingard won the English FA Cup for Manchester United, scoring the vital goal at the 110th minute of extra time.

United had gone behind in the 78th minute when Jason Puncheon shot Crystal Palace ahead. But three minutes after, United responded with a Juan Mata goal, that benefitted with a little deflection by a Crystal Palace defender.

Despite the setback of seeing defender Chris Smalling sent off in the 105th minute, subsitute Jesse Lingard, who replaced Mata, finished off the job and handed the Louis Van Gaal wards their only silverware of the season, ending three year trophy-less season.

“It is fantastic for the fans, for the players, for me. I have now won the title in 4 countries,” an excited Van Gaal said at the end of the match.
For Crystal Palace, it was yet another disappointing final with no victory to show.
