The command’s spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos  said that the suspects were arrested during a raid on criminal hideouts, particularly for suspected cult members.

“The Lagos state command through its Special Anti-Robbery Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives carried out a raid on suspected criminal hideouts in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

“The raid was carried out in conjunction with local Vigilance personnel, in the late hours of Tuesday at various black spots within Sabo, Odogunyon and Igbogbo areas of Ikorodu.

“A total number of 18 suspects were arrested. In the process, one Riliwan Okegbenro, (16), of no fixed address, confessed to be a cult member.

“He confessed to have allegedly participated in the killing of one Olawale Adebayo, a 22-year-old,” she said.

The spokesperson said that the teenage suspect also confessed that two of his gang members that participated in the killing, were now at large.
Badmos said that the command was on the trail of the fleeing suspects, including one Ahmed and a certain Taoreed.

“Riliwan has also been identified by the brother of the deceased, Ismaila Balogun, as one of the killers of the said Olawale, and investigation is still ongoing,’’ she said.

The police spokesperson said that the command was committed to clamping down on criminals, “in order to make the state a safe place,” she added. (NAN)
