Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Chairman, Enyimba International Football club of Aba, said on Friday that the team was ready and motivated for the clash against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia on Sunday.

Enyimba,, the only surviving Nigerian club in continental club tournament, will slug it out with a familiar foe, Etoile in Port Harcourt to determine who books a place in the CAF Champions League money spinning group stage.

Agwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt that Enyimba was ready for the first leg of the crucial match against the Tunisians.

“ It is really expected, honestly, when you find yourself in a situation like this, obviously, not just pressure, it means that a lot is expected of you.

“ Every hope from Nigerians is on Enyimba as long as club football in the continent is concerned.

“ So, it goes with this pressure, but we are used to it, and I believe we will be able to manage the pressure and I believe Nigerians are praying for us,” he said.Enyimba v Etoile du sahel of Tunisia

Agwu said the Sunday clash would be like the final because the winner moves to the group stage when the tournament becomes more competitive.

He said the club was very mindful of the tough opponent and had worked hard to prepare for them.

“ The players have enough motivation, they are playing against a North African team, knowing what is at stake, knowing that the ultimate is to get to the group stage, which is a prestigious stage, is enough motivation.

“ Whatever that we need to do as a team to also bring them psychologically to the level where they should be,” he said.

Agwu said all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure that the team had a successful outing on Sunday.
