Sunday Adetunji’s brace on Wednesday gave the Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan a 2-0 win over visiting Ikorodu United FC of Lagos in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The home team scored in the 27th and 39th minutes of the match played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The visitors came into the game determined to improve on their recent poor performances in the competition thereby giving 3SC a run for their money with a good display.

3SC coach Kadiri Ikhana however said while it was a good game for his team he still believed he had no good team for now.

“Well, we are happy beating the visitors 2-0, but as at now we have no team to be proud of in the league.

“3SC are having only seven players out of the 31 registered for the competition, while the rest are on loan.

“So, there is nothing to bank on for the competition. But, when we have a team, everybody will see,” he said.

Ikhana also blamed the League Management Committee (LMC) for the team’s string of defeats before the match, when they lost to Sunshine Stars and Enyimba International.

Meanwhile, coach Sam Okpodu of Ikorodu United on his part described the match as bad for his team, saying they lost to inexperience.

“We have a lot of young players who failed to take advantage of the chances which came our way. But we will go back and step up our game to avoid relegation,” he said.
