A 25-year-old Nigerian has died after allegedly being pushed off the balcony of his rented third floor apartment in India’s West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, police said.
The man, identified only as Best, lived in the apartment with a woman, who told police that a group of around seven Nigerians had come to their residence the night before.
She said the group got into a heated argument with Best and allegedly pushed him off the balcony. She also identified one of the persons in the group.
“A case of murder has been registered on the basis of the woman’s complaint and a team has been formed to nab the accused at the earliest,” DCP (West) Pushpendra Kumar said on 30 March adding that the accused are absconding.
Later, the staff at a hospital called up police and reported the incident.
It emerged that Best’s friend first called up a person in Noida and informed him about the incident before rushing Best to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Best’s woman did not call up the police, an official said.
Police are yet to determine the exact circumstances and the sequence of events in connection with the matter.
Investigators have yet not ruled out that Best could have fallen accidentally or even might have committed suicide, the official said.
Things will become clear once the suspected persons are interrogated, he added.
