Dr Olubunmi Muhammed Balogun, Secretary of Ekiti All Progressives Party (APC) Elders Initiative Forum
has drawn the attention of the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Etop James, to the daily robberies taking place in every part of the state. According to him, “People are now living in fear; they can no longer move freely from one town to another.”
He cited the case when, two weeks ago, a retired police officer, Mr A. Isijola, met his untimely death between Igbara Odo and Ogotun in Ekiti South West Local Government Area. Also, three days ago, there were three robbery incidents: between Aramoko and Ado Ekiti; Ado and Ilawe Ekiti and Igbara Odo and Ogotun. “People cannot move freely in Ekiti now, these robberies took place during the day not at night,” he lamented.
Balogun, therefore, advised the present governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, the chief security officer of the state who has fully preoccupied himself with Peoples Democratic Party, (P.D.P), national job, to tackle the problem. He added: “The only job the governor is doing now is to protect the state lawmaker and P.D.P leader in the state from being arrested by police or DSS.”
Balogun argued that since insecurity is a great disincentive to investments, Fayose should address the problem so that Ekiti will not lose its badly needed global investment capital
