EgyptAir hijacker an idiot, not terrorist: Government

Officials At Egypt’s Ministry Of Foreign Affairs have dubbed the EgyptAir Flight MS181 hijacker as  an Idiot.

“He is not a terrorist, he’s an idiot”, a government official said.

Cyprus president Cyprus Anastasiades has also said the “hijacking has nothing with terrorism”.

The hijacker Ibrahim Samaha has requested to see his estranged Cypriot wife, Marina Parashkou, who has now been brought to Lanarca Airport to participate in negotiations.

The woman is said to live in a village not far from the airport.

Egyptian authorities said Samaha holds US citizenship and is a professor of veterinary medicine.

Mustafa Bakry, an Egyptian MP, wrote on Twitter that Samaha was a visiting professor at the University of Atlanta in the US.

Later he was said to be a professor at the University of Alexandria.
