Nigerian international, Odion Ighalo opened scoring for Watford in the quarter final against FA Cup holders Arsenal at the Emirates.  Thirteen minutes after, Adlene Guedioura compounded Arsenal’s misery by slotting a second goal.

The match had ended goalless in the first half,  with Joel Campbell and the Egyptian, Mohammed Elneny squandering several chances for Arsenal.

Watford duly punished Arsenal for the misses in the second half, with Ighalo opening scoring just five minutes after resumption.

Substitute Danny Welbeck gave Arsenal the only consolation goal on 88th minute.

Arsenal have now joined Chelsea, Reading as quarter-final losers. Watford, Crystal Palace and Everton are in the semi-finals.

Manchester United will play West Ham United later to know whether they will complete the line-up of semi-finalists or mark their exit.
