Governor Fayose

Dr Olubunmi Muhammed Balogun, Secretary of Ekiti All Progressives Party (APC) Elders Initiative Forum, has asked the Federal Government to call Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State to order over his incessant verbal diarrhoea, which could have serious security implications.

The most recent, according to Balogun, was Fayose’s allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari wanted to make secular Nigeria an Islamic country. This statement, as Balogun argued, could create serious inter-religious war that could claim lives.

In the words of Balogun: “As a concerned citizen of Nigeria, I think the attention of the Inspector General of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) should be drawn to the statement made by Ekiti state governor, Ayodele fayose in River State some days ago. I think by now the right agency should have questioned Fayose for the inciting statement he made that President Buhari wanted to Islamise Nigeria.”

If Fayose is left unchecked for his reckless statement, Balogun argued that it “will get to a point that it will have a serious security implication on the country.”

On 27 February 2016, at Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s inter–denominational thanksgiving and victory celebration event that held in Port-Harcourt, Fayose claimed that the Buhari government was taking steps towards making Nigeria an Islamic nation.

At the occasion, Fayose (as reported earlier by this medium) referred to himself as Peter the rock who cannot be harmed by anyone (It was a reference to how Jesus referred to Peter in Matthew 16: 18. “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it). In other words, he is not afraid to speak.

Fayose alleged that the Buhari government “has started subtle moves to make Nigeria an Islamic nation, but God will stop them. This was done in 1984, it failed, it would fail again.”
He boasted that day: “I am not far away, I am in Ekiti. I am Ayo Fayose, Peter the rock, if you hit me you will be in trouble. If I hit you, you will be in trouble.”

“The agenda is coming small small, but we will resist it. Nigeria is a free nation where we proclaim the name of Jesus Christ freely, and we believe in Allah for those who are Muslims. This nation will not be taken for an Islamic nation,” Fayose said.
