Omoba Dele Odule, President, Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPPAN, has commended the efforts of the Lagos state government  in trying to bring sanity and safety to roads in Lagos State.

Effective from Monday, traffic mobile courts will begin sitting in the state and give summary trials to traffic offenders.

At a symposium in Lagos during the weekend, Odule appealed to all Lagosians especially members of his association that are road users to adhere strictly to the traffic laws and avoid prohibited roads and routes.

“Our association stands with the Lagos State government on the steps taken to bring sanity to the roads,” Odule said.

According to the seasoned actor, the introduction of mobile courts is a welcome development that will “at the long run curb senseless and waste of lives due to avoidable accidents which have become a minute by minute occurrence in the past few years now.”

While commending Governor Akinwunmi  Ambode for placing priority on human lives in the state, Odule also advised the state government to intensify efforts on other areas that will be of immense benefit to Lagosians and visitors.

On Monday 8 February, Lagos State inaugurated the Mobile Courts to try traffic offenders across the state. Some of the traffic contraventions that could lead to heavy fine, forfeiture of vehicles and various jail terms include driving against traffic, riding of motorcycle on median or road setbacks, smoking while driving and driving without valid driver’s license.

TAMPPAN leader then enjoined all others states to emulate Lagos State by introducing efficient traffic laws and mobile courts to change citizens’ psyches against activities inimical to the safety of all.
