Another ambush by Boko Haram fighters has claimed a lieutenant colonel, in a military convoy from Maiduguri to Bama.
The killed soldier was identified as Lt. Colonel Salami.
According to various reports, the convoy had slowed down at a bad portion of the road, when the Boko Haram gunmen struck.
The source said several soldiers in the convoy sustained various degrees of gun injuries and some military vehicles got damaged in the process.
There are reports of total liberation of some towns in the state by the military and subsequent return of people to those town that include Bama & Konduga.
Tuesday’s attack took place along the main road between Bama and Konduga by Sambisa forest.
Last week, the military also reported the ambush of its food truck on Bama-Ngurosye road, leading to the death of a soldier, a JTF civilian and the abduction of another soldier. (Read the story here: TheNEWS
