Today is former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 58th birthday. Unlike when he was in power when captains of industry, hangers-on, palace prophets, party apparatchiks and many money-miss-road politicians fell over one another to please him with congratulatory adverts, the newspapers are empty today with regard to his birthday.

Where are the “friends?”. Where are Ifeanyi Ubah (who set up the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria), Governor Ayodele Fayose, PDP chieftains, Bayelsa State government, Governor Nyesom Wike, Femi Otedola (who consistently referred to Jonathan who attended his father’s burial, as his friend), Aliko Dangote (who received the highest honour from the former President), Reuben Abati, Femi Fani-Kayode, Yinka Odumakin, the Nollywood, the Afenifere members and others. Where are all the Jonathan troubadours?

This is a confirmation of what Jonathan said at the Aso Rock chapel immediately he lost election that all his friends had abandoned him! Indeed, there are fair weather friends. These are not friends but fiends…
