World Cup Qualifiers: Chad stun Egypt, Botswana beat Mali

Chad’s national team: stun Egypt

The African minnows continued today to stun their better rated African opponents as the first leg of the second round of the World Cup qualifiers ended.

Chad hosting Egypt in Ndjamena stunned their visitors 1-0. Tanzania also held Algeria 2-2 in Dar es Salaam.

Botswana beat Mali with the two goals scored within the 25 minutes in the first half by Tapiwa Gadibolae and Joel Mogorosi. Mali was able to reduce the deficit, with a goal by Samba sow in the 56th minute.

Gabon used  their home advantage to the full and beat Mozambique 1-0.

In Addis Ababa, it was a goal feast as Congo beat Ethiopia 4-3.

The second leg of the qualifiers continue Sunday.
