Vincent Enyeama : Out of Super Eagles

Vincent Enyeama, Super Eagles goalie for the past 13 years, has quit the team.

His decision followed a row with new Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, who then stripped of captaincy of the team. Some football stakeholders said the row has been resolved.

But it appears they did not get the issues right.

In a message posted on Instagram, as Vinny 2908, Enyeama said  he will no longer be available for national duties.

“I have fought a good fight for more than 13 years.I have finished my course,I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion.henceforth,there is laid for me a crown which only GOD can reward me for my 13 years of national services.God bless Nigeria. From henceforth I am no more the captain of the Nigerian senior football team. I am no more the goalie of the team. I am out of the team. I am no more available for international duties. I want to say thank you to every Nigerian fan and supporter world wide.its been the most trying period of my life but I know that Nigerian are there for me and God is with me.God bless Nigeria.”, he said.

Enyeama  born 29 August 1982,   plays for French club Lille.  Since making his debut in 2002 for Nigeria, he has since become the captain and is now the most capped player ever for the national team.

He started his footballing career with Ibom Stars in 1999 and went on to play for Enyimba International and Iwuanyanwu Nationale, all in Nigeria. This was up till 2005.

From there, he joined Israeli club Bnei Yehuda for two years and then crossed to Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2007. It was from Hapoel that he made the switch to Lille in 2011.

He will be remembered as the stay-in captain for the Eagles when they won the African Nations Cup in 2013.
