*10 attacks recorded in Madagali in 20 days
The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Nigerian military and other security agencies to provide adequate personnel in the fight against insurgency.
This followed a motion sponsored by Rep. Adamu Kamale (PDP) representing Michika/Madagali constituency of Adamawa.
The lawmakers unanimously adopted the motion, and called on the military to also take necessary measures to reduce the rate of the terrorists’ attacks in the country.
Kamale had said that between Sept. 10 and Sept. 30, more than 10 separate attacks took place in Madagali Local Government Area, with 20 people killed.
He added that the attacks also recorded 75 burnt houses in Bitiku, Sabon Gari, Hyambulu, Gulak, Bakin Dutse and Kirchinga communities.
He said that the attacks had brought untold hardships on the people of affected communities.
Condemning Friday’s bomb attacks in Abuja, Kamale stressed that lives of more people would be endangered if more military intervention was not adopted.
The House, however, directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Victims Support Fund to provide relief materials to the affected communities. (NAN)
