Dan Abia, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission on Wednesday said the allegations by the Auditor General of the Federation that N180 billion was missing from the Commission’s account is not true.

The NDDC managing director who led the management staff of the Commission to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari also said he was not in the Commission when the alleged missing funds was discovered.

Dan Abia who spoke with reporters after the meeting with President Buhari said the audit report being queried by the AGF was between 2008 and 2012 while he became the MD in 2013. “I said that even before the President that no N180billion is missing. Let me also tell you that I cannot be a party to contract splitting. Even by the admission of the Auditor-General, no N180 billion is
missing because Advance Payment Guarantee as you know is governed by advanced payment directives,” Dan Abia who also denied that any form of contract splitting took place under his watch said.

He added that NNDC is ready to engage the Office of the Auditor-General to put the records straight. The NNDC managing director who denied that he was summoned by President Buhari because of the fraud allegations said the Commission has performed very well under his leadership.
