The Angolan Ministry of Finance on Friday in Luanda said it would host the summit of African finance ministers and Central Bank governors on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28.
The ministry said the summit would serve as a unique opportunity for African leaders to discuss issues affecting the economies of the continent.
It said in a statement that it would also beam a search light on lack of infrastructure and the poor development of the manufacturing sector.
The ministry added that the meeting would also strengthen the voice of the continent’s representatives on important issues relating to the socio-economic development of the Bretton Woods institutions.
The institutions are the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
They were set up at a meeting of 43 countries in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, U.S. in July 1944.
Also, they were to help rebuild the shattered postwar economy and to promote international economic co-operation.
It said the two-day summit would focus on several workshops.
These include “The General Vision of the Regional Economy’’, “Economic Transformation and Diversification’’ and the “Financing of Regional Projects Connected to Infrastructure’’.
The Angolan government expressed the hope that the event would strengthen relations with various international institutions, including the IMF and the World Bank
