Buoyed by the emergence of the Multinational Joint Task Force set up to battle Boko Haram and the pledges of assistance by G7, the United Nataions and the African Union, President Muhammadu Buhari has boldly given a timeline for the end of the Boko Haram insurgency.

He said in Cotonou, Benin Republic that Boko Haram will be consigned to history dustbin by end of this year.

He spoke at the gala lunch held in his honour by President Boni Yayi.

Benin is contributing 800 soldiers to the MNJTF.

“I assure you that we will defeat Boko Haram by the end of this year,” Buhari said.

Buhari was on a one-day visit to Cotonou as the special guest of honour at the 55th independence anniversary of Benin.
