Nigerian troops confronting Boko Haram terrorists in restive northeastern state of Borno said on Tuesday that they had rescued 30 persons from suspected terrorists as a follow up to its operations in Dikwa town.
A deputy spokesperson for the Nigerian Army Col. Tukur Gusau said in a statement that the rescued persons included 21 children and seven women.
Gusau said the rescued persons also included two elderly male adults.
The military spokesperson added that troops discovered a training shed inside the vandalized and looted palace of the Shehu of Dikwa where weapons handling and engagement of aircraft were being taught to new Boko Haram recruits.
The army had last week liberated the town from the terrorists after a successful operation.
Boko Haram has stepped up its attacks with a spate of suicide bombings across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
