The Indian Parliament on Wednesday witnessed uproar for the second day in a row, with opposition parties reiterating their demand for resignations of Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister and two chief ministers.
The parliamentarians were reacting to allegations of corruption and wrongdoing leveled against the officials.
Both the Upper and Lower chambers had to adjourn repeatedly after opposition parties, led by Congress Party created chaos, in spite of Indian government accepting a debate on allegations surrounding Swaraj.
It said External Affairs Minister and Chief Minister of the western state of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje were accused of conniving with India’s former cricket boss Lalit Modi, currently a fugitive in the UK accused of financial corruption.
It said the Congress insisted that the parliament would not be sitting up until Swaraj resigned his appointment along with Raje; and Shivraj Chouhan, Chief Minister of the central state of Madhya Pradesh.
Chouhan’s government was embroiled in a massive fraud in entrance exams for college and government jobs.
Sonia Gandhi, Congress Chief defended her party’s refusal to allow the Parliament to function.
Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said External Affairs Minister had not broken any rules or regulations.
