Four gunmen armed with AK 47 rifles have invaded the residence of the National General Secretary of Ijaw Youths Council Worldwide, Emmanuel Bristol Alagbariya, killing one of his aides.

Alagbariya himself was not at home in Port Harcourt, when the attack occurred Friday, according to a statement issued by him.

But a meeting by a committee deliberating on a summit to commemmorate 58 years of the Henry Willinks minority commission and celebration of some revered heroes was about to begin when the incident occurred.

While committee members were waiting for him to join them in the meeting a bus belonging to the National Secretary drove into the compound and was swiftly followed by the assailants who appeared to have laid siege outside his compound.

When the gunmen did not find the man they wanted, they stormed the room where the committee members were about to meet and ordered everyone to lie flat.

It was at this moment that one of the assailants for pulled the trigger and kill the personal assistant to Alagbariya. The assitant was simply identified as Silver.

The upcoming Rivers Ijaw summit on 26 June in Port Harcourt will honour Late Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye, Major Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro, Dr. I J M Fiberesima, Chief U.O Ekeneokot and Chief P. J Warmate for their contributions to the Niger delta, Rivers State and Nigeria.
