The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army on Saturday said it had relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Maiduguri.

It will now last 15 hours, from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily.

The Spokesman of the Division, Col. Tukur Gusau, made this known in a statement in Maiduguri.

Gusau said that the curfew was imposed following last Wednesday’s foiled Boko Haram attack on the city.

He added that “the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army decided to relax the curfew after reviewing the security situation in Maiduguri.

“Accordingly, movement is now from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.’’

He then urged residents of Maiduguri to go about their normal busineses during the stipulated period, stating that “residents are advised to continue with their normal activities within the stipulated period and continue to monitor the media for updates.’’
