Shehu Sani, Senator-elect wants amnesty programme scrapped

Kaduna state Senator-Elect and President Civil Rights Congress, Comrade Shehu Sani has urged President-elect Muhammadu Buhari to scrap the amnesty programme.

He also asked the President-elect to probe the operations of the Amnesty Programme before scrapping it.

According to Sani , the Amnesty programme initiated by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua for ex-militants in the Niger Delta is a sham and should be discontinued by Buhari led administration.

He noted that the amnesty programme should have been a temporary gesture and not a permanent one as it is now.

He equally noted that a situation where some individuals have turned the Amnesty programme into a conduit pipe to drain the nation’s wealth is regrettable.

The senator Elect also accused the President Jonathan administration of skewing development to the south-south alone instead of spreading it to the north and south west regions.

He told Buhari to be a national and not a regional leader.

He however cautioned the President elect to avoid a repeat of the mistake made the PDP led government.
