Two former governorship aspirants on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in the northern Nigerian state of Katsina, Alhaji Kabir Barkiya and Alhaji Tukur Jikamshi, have defected to the All Progressives Congress.

They were received at the governorship rally of APC’s candidate, Aminu Masari, by the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina on Thursday.

Other defectors included the former Military Governor of Borno, retired Col Abdulmumini Aminu, eight serving members of the Katsina State House of Assembly and two former commissioners, Nasidi Danladi and Aminu Jamo.

Buhari thanked God for the success APC recorded during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on March 28.

He urged the electorate across the country to massively vote for APC candidates during the forthcoming governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

The President-elect assured that he would fulfil all promises he made during the campaign.

The APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Aminu Masari, assured people of the state that he would improve the living condition of people if elected as governor of the state on April 11.

Masari called on the party’s supporters to continue to be law abiding during and after the elections for peaceful coexistence in the state.
