Reigning Nigerian champions Kano Pillars once again fell well short in the CAF Champions League, after crashing out 5-2 on aggregate to Moghreb Tetouan in the first round stage of the 2015 season.

The three-time defending league champions needed five goals in the return leg on Saturday, having crashed to a 4-0 defeat in the first leg a fortnight ago.

But Pillars’ task was made even tougher when Iajour gave the Moroccan visitors a first half lead against the run of play and leave Pillars needing six goals to qualify.

The first of those finally came on the hour mark through Tony Edjomariegwe on the hour mark while Rabiu Ali scored a second for Pillars in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 win.

The result in Kano leaves Nigeria with two representatives left on the continent, with Enyimba taking a narrow 1-0 first leg lead to Smouha of Egypt in Sunday’s second leg while Warri Wolves will be guest of Dedebit also on Sunday in the CAF Confederations Cup.
