Aliyu Wammako: wins Senate seat convincingly

Governor Aliyu Wammako has won his bid for a seat in the Nigerian senate by winning the Sokoto central district by a wide margin. He scored 225, 642 votes to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party rival, Senator Ahmed Maccido, who scored 65,692 votes.

Wammako’s victory was announced today by the collation officer, Professor Femi Abdullateef.

In the results announced so far, APC candidates also cleared the seats available in the Federal constituencies in the House of Representatives election.

APC’ s Bala Abubakar polled 85,514 to beat PDP’s Umar Bature, who got 24,118 votes, to win Sokoto South/Sokoto North Federal constituency.

In the Wammako/Kware Federal constituency, Abdullahi Wammako of the APC also edged out Gado Yusuf of the PDP, winning 67,231 votes to 14, 216.

Kabir Maraca of APC also clinched Wurno/Rabah Federal constituency, winning 39,981 votes. PDP got 11,760. Gwadaba/Illela Federal constituency was won by Dr. Abdullahi Silame of the APC with 64,144 votes. Ibrahim Yahaya of PDP scored 25,930 votes.
