Akpabio's 'barrackslide' of a victory

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, has been declared winner of Saturday’s Senatorial elections in the state’s North West district.

The declaration was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, despite complaints of irregularities in the election, among which was the non declaration of results at polling units.

Akpabio, whose opponents claimed had pocketed INEC officials with N2.5 billion, was said to have polled 422,009 of the 439,449 votes said to have been cast in his senatorial district. His roundly beaten opponent, Chief Inibehe Okorie of the All Progressives Congress scored a paltry 15, 152 votes. What a hapless fellow!

The voluble governor’s vote tally, we bet, must be the highest in the race for the Senate, dredging up memories of strange electoral figures in the Second Republic, that earned the reputation greater than landslide, that editors who had exhausted all the adjectives in the books, called them ‘barrackslide’.

You guys will always have issues with PDP candidates that won in any segment of this election….all candidates in APC are “spotless” as far as you are concerned
